Primary at Sophos
Blending National Identity with Global Competence

About Primary Level
At the primary level, Sophos School Indonesia offers a dual curriculum approach, combining the Indonesian National Curriculum (Kurikulum Merdeka) and the Cambridge International Curriculum (CIE) to nurture well-rounded, globally aware students.

Indonesian National Curriculum (Kurikulum Merdeka)
At Sophos School Indonesia, the Kurikulum Merdeka forms the foundation of students’ national identity and character development. Through subjects such as Pendidikan Agama dan Budi Pekerti (Religious and Character Education), Pendidikan Pancasila (Civic and National Values), and Bahasa Indonesia, students build a deep connection with their culture, values, and communication skills. This curriculum emphasizes individual progress based on national standards, allowing students to grow according to their personal strengths while aligning with Indonesia’s educational goals.

Cambridge International Curriculum (CIE)
In parallel with the national program, Sophos offers the Cambridge International Curriculum to enhance students’ global competencies. Subjects such as Mathematics, Science, English as a Second Language, and Global Perspectives equip students with strong academic skills, critical thinking, and intercultural understanding. Learning in this curriculum is guided by international benchmarks, focusing on each student’s individual growth and readiness for a global environment.

General Academic Progression: Stage 3–6
The primary school journey is organized into academic stages that align with the Cambridge framework, specifically Stage 3 to Stage 6. These stages support age-appropriate learning, from building foundational literacy and numeracy in Stage 3, to exploring scientific and civic themes in Stage 4, and developing global awareness and core academic strength in Stages 5 and 6. By the end of Stage 6, students are well-prepared for lower secondary education, equipped with both national values and international academic standards.
